Local Healthwatch

About local Healthwatch

Local Healthwatch organisations give children, young people and adults a powerful, independent and meaningful local voice. Healthwatch will help people get the best out of their local health and social care services by helping people to access the right care, improving care today or helping to shape services for tomorrow.

As the local care consumer champion Healthwatch organisations will:

  • Listen to local people and provide a powerful, independent collective voice.

  • Take action based on what matters to local people.

  • Support patients and the public to be part of discussions about local health and care

  • Help people find information and make choices about their care.

Anyone can play a meaningful part with Healthwatch in a way that suits them:

  • Telling Healthwatch about your good or bad experiences of care

  • Collecting and sharing people’s experiences with Healthwatch

  • Telling people about Healthwatch and how it can help them

  • Representing the public voice on boards and at meetings

  • Being part of teams visiting care providers or running projects

  • Helping Healthwatch run their information line.

Healthwatch is all about local voices being able to influence the delivery and design of local services. Not just people who use them, but anyone who might need to in the future.

Healthwatch will tell health services about patients' experiences of care and hold them to account.  Patients and members of the public will soon be able to tell Healthwatch about what they want from health and social care and about what they like or dislike.
