New out-of-hours health visitor advice line for local parents

A mother with her baby calling the advice line
From 1 December 2014, local parents with children aged between 0-5 years old can call a new out-of-hours helpline and speak to a qualified health visitor - if their child has a minor ailment that they are concerned about.

The advice line, which is run by Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust’s health visiting service, has been launched to alleviate the pressure on acute hospital services and reduce unnecessary hospital visits by providing sound advice if parents have concerns about minor ailments, such as:

  • Feeding problems
  • Sleeping issues
  • Crying problems
  • Coughing
  • High temperatures
  • Rashes or burns

The new advice-line is manned by a health visitor and operates between 5pm-8pm weekdays, and 9am-5pm during weekends and bank holidays.

A&E - Think before you walk...

If your child’s condition is more serious and needs to see a healthcare professional urgently -call NHS 111 for medical advice, or for emergencies call 999. For advice about treatment for minor conditions, see your local pharmacist.
