Statement from Sian Bates, Chairman of Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

Following the announcement last month that Patricia Wright, our Chief Executive, had been asked to cover the Hillingdon Hospital CEO role, I can now confirm that Patricia has been appointed to the substantive CEO role at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS FT.

This followed an open recruitment process and she will take up the permanent position on 30 November 2020.

I have agreed with the Board of Directors that David Hawkins, our Director of Finance and Corporate Services, will be interim Chief Executive with effect from 30 November 2020. This will ensure continuity of senior leadership as we continue our journey as an indispensable partner in the developing Integrated Care Systems in our local boroughs.

Over the coming months, we will be continuing our work with local partners to integrate services further, and to respond to the ongoing pandemic.

The world in which we provide healthcare services will almost certainly look quite different come the spring and we feel this is not the right time to launch the recruitment of a permanent Chief Executive.

We have confidence that the executive team, with David’s interim leadership, will provide the stability the organisation needs over this period.

I would like to congratulate Patricia on her appointment to the substantive role at The Hillingdon Hospital NHSFT. In the short time that I have been Chairman of HRCH, I have been hugely impressed with the organisation, the quality of care provided and the engagement and commitment of staff.

This is in huge part due to Patricia’s strong leadership of the trust. She will be greatly missed and I wish her every success in her new role.

Patricia Wright says: “I am delighted to have been appointed to the CEO role at Hillingdon, but at the same time am very sad to be leaving HRCH after five years in the role.

“I am very proud of what we have achieved in my time at the trust and know that I am leaving things in a very good place and in capable hands. HRCH is a great place to work, full of inspirational people with a ‘can do’ attitude and a real desire to make a difference and it has been a huge pleasure working with you all."
