On 31 March 2016, the Lloyds Pharmacy at Teddington Memorial Hospital is closing. This service was found not to be providing good value for public money and around £200,000 per year will be saved by this contract coming to an end.
NHS England (London), who commission the Lloyds pharmacy at Teddington Memorial Hospital, is working closely with local health partners to ensure that Teddington residents and the wider Richmond community continue to have easy access to high quality community pharmacy services. NHS England (London) are committed to reinvesting the money saved from the Lloyds Pharmacy contract ending back into local community pharmacy services.
What the changes mean for patients and local people
From 1 April 2016, pharmacy services for inpatients and walk-in centre patients attending Teddington Memorial Hospital will be available through a new service commissioned by Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
If you are a patient staying at Teddington Memorial Hospital or using its walk-in centre, you will not experience any changes to how you receive pharmacy services.
If you currently use Lloyds Pharmacy, you will continue to be able to access pharmacy services close to Teddington Memorial Hospital, with two pharmacies within a three minute walk from the hospital (0.3 miles) and a further five within a 10 minute walk or bus ride.
From April 2016, you will also benefit from longer opening hours for community pharmacies close to GP practices and Teddington Memorial Hospital. There will also be minor ailment services available across the borough. These services will be available thanks to money being reinvested back into community services across Richmond.
