The Teddington Memorial Hospital inpatient ward and the 'Always Events' team are finalists in the Health Service Journal Patient Safety Awards 2019.
The ward team have been shortlisted for a Patient Safety in the Community Award for ‘Improving care for patients at risk of falls at Teddington Memorial Hospital’.
The team, supported by NHS Improvement, led a successful project which reduced falls by 85% - significantly reducing the liklihood of patients being harmed and maximising their independence.
The Always Events team – Quality and Clinical Excellence and Clinical Services, in partnership with Spark the Difference – have been shortlisted for no fewer than three awards.
- Quality Improvement Initiative of the Year for ‘Beyond systems and processes: improving patient safety by focusing on what matters to patients’
- Patient Safety Organisation of the Year for ‘Our Journey to Outstanding: Committing to what matters to patients’
- End of Life Care Award for ‘Removing the Elephant in the Room: Supporting staff to talk about death and dying’.
The winners will be announced at Manchester Central Convention Complex on 2 July 2019.
Congratulations to all the amazing HRCH colleagues who were involved in these projects. Good luck!
