The Freedom of Information Act became effective in 2000. The Act allows members of the public to access information held by public authorities, subject to certain exemptions.
The Freedom of Act does not change the rights of patients to protect their confidentiality.
Under the Freedom of Information Act we have a legal obligation to produce a publication scheme - through which we pro-actively publish information and documents required by the Information Commissioner’s Office.
